Last week Thursday, precisely 12th October, I was part of the facilitators for the Road Usage seminar organised by Mr Adrain Egonu, the publisher of Naija Car Lovers & ATCN (FIA) to teach, especially the next generation, the rudiments of safety on the roads.

The line up of speakers was pretty amazing. From Mr Femi Giwa, the Head of Operations of LASEMA, Mr Corban of ROSCOL, a Traffic Safety Solution company, ACC Hauwa Olowookere,Unit Commander FRSC to Mr Ishaku Bamayi, the President, Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria and some more.

One fact was succinctly articulated; accidents just don’t happen. It is a combination of three key factors; the road, the driver and the vehicle. For us at LACVIS, we represent a strong link in the road safety chain. And that is our commitment to Lagosians, to ensure that their vehicles are inspected to determine its safety and ascertain its road worthiness.
Car accidents are unfortunately very common and though it is agreed that human errors greatly account for the loss of lives and griefs, our focus at LACVIS is to prevent accidents that are caused by flaws and defects in the vehicle.

Somehow, quite a lot of motorists and vehicle owners are usually carried away by the beauty of the vehicle but somehow manage to neglect to check the state of the compartments of their vehicles.
Our job at LACVIS is relatively simple- check vehicles for defects that make them unfit for the roads; and if there are non, then issue the vehicle a road worthiness certificate to certify it as legally compliant.
Using computerised gadgets, we check for emmision, head lamps, alignment, suspension, brakes and brakes efficiency, underneath inspection for chassis and chassis attachment and issuing credible results that are computer generated.
So that’s LACVIS contribution to safety. Ours is to make sure that we don’t take vehicle safety for granted. For vehicle owners, our message to you is, be pro active, do your part and enjoy the the services of the government to prevent road crashes. For teenagers and young adults we say, encourage your parents to actually schedule their vehicles for the computerised vehicle inspection.
Vehicle inspection safeguards your future, bring your vehicles for the computerised inspection at LACVIS.
